I am writing this as I sit in the intensive care unit by my son who had a horrible car accident on Wednesday night. Two back surgeries later, back brace catheter, chest tube oxygen, ng tube iv tubes etc. trying to keep him comfortable is difficult . Hard to see your kid suffering. It is going to be a really long road ahead of him with spine rehab. Back brace. And more surgery in nine months to remove the rod that is holding his spine together. I recently signed up for two blog hops to keep my spirits up and to keep me grounded thru all this craziness and to give me something good to look forward to. Thanks for all the prayers everyone is sending me thru Facebook. Trying to keep sane and hopeful

Time for the Swap and Hop reveal today May 15 2016! Are you excited!!

My partner is Fay Rice Wolfenden of British Columbia Canada who is a lampwork and copper artist
here is what she sent me to work with. A great collection of lampwork, copper, vintage beads and a few seed beads

this is what I sent to her:

and this is what I made with her goodies. I had lost of fun with her copper pieces which i changed up a bit by using different bead configurations than what she had sent me to work with. I especially loved the large purple lampwork bead that I reconfigured into a bracelet. I love the large tubes I got from Supertime beads at the gem show and the matching swirl clasp goes great with it and the purple crystal roundelles
and next up I loved Fays copper tube circle which become the focal along with her other copper dangles which I painted with fire with my torch to get wonderful colors which coordinated well with my love of red creek jasper(my favorite stone)
next up is the vintage blue glass beads which i added blue coral and Fays black spacers. I showed them off with the focal pod which I created when I took a class with Doreen Gay-Kassell with the New England Polymer Clay guild.
and from her wonderful lampwork beads and copper
and I still have more beads left including her headpins that I am hoarding still.
Cant wait to hop and see everyones creativity

New year
Looking back on 2015. It's been a tough year with my dad having cancer, he passed away on November 21, 2 days before the anniversary of my brothers death 38 years before. Hard to cope with it and I have let slot of things go for a while, such as my bead website. Also my best friends mom died in September and had to help her cope as well.
Good things happened too! My daughter got married on August 30 and my dad had a great time.
Hopefully will be back in the mood to make jewelry and components soon.
I'm excited to see some blog hops coming soon so I'm trying to update my blog

I am happy to show you what I made for the Summer Lovin' blog hop hosted by JSB Arts who gifted us with her beautiful ceramics in sand and sea colors. When I recieved my beads I saw more of a southwestern theme to them, I was also working on my Blu Mudd challenge at the same time with zuni bears so it was a great time to continue with this theme. Also the pendant bead had a dreamcatcher in it so feathers it was.
Of course I procrastinated and put it off and then saw someone post this am at 5Am so I got up finished the last piece and photographed and here it is
I cant wait to see what everyone else made
thank you JSB for the opportunity to work with your beads. I hope I did them justice
beautiful ceramics from Shawna Barnes at JSB Arts Go check her out at the artisan component marketplace to see her work

It's finally time for the bead peeps swap and hop revealSo excited to see everyone's creations
My partner for this swap is from India and her name is Divya N. She sent me lots of unique beads and pendants that she created herself. Her blog is http://www.jewelsofsayuri.com/ She is from India and makes jewelry and components with an Indian flare and teaches. she has a background in fashion design, but changed to Jewelry design. It really challenged me to use such different and unique pendants and I thought about ideas for a long time before starting to create my pieces.. I saw the buttons and knew that they would make great earrings with Divya's lamp-work glass at the bottom. I challenged myself with the green donuts and stars to make a necklace as i usually don't work with greens as much as i should.
They clasp was challenging as it was a different color metal than worked with my pieces so i created a bracelet with it that would show it's handcrafted beauty. I decided to use a lot of wire wrapping throughout my pieces as well. Divya created the stars in the green piece and the leather wrapped beads and clasp in the bracelet. I still have many pieces left that i will use for future projects because as usual I waited too long to start and did not use all the goodies that she sent yet.
This is what I sent Divya
